Facilities and Capital Improvements

Literally the foundation on which TouroMed is built, capital funding provides the physical environment that will foster the education of tomorrow’s physicians. The range of funding opportunities is broad, including the main auditorium, various library rooms, classrooms, offices, and student activity areas.  Support for buildings and infrastructure is one of the most prominent and conspicuous ways of expressing your deep commitment to the future of a great institution.

Endowments

Building a permanent endowment is an important goal for any institution, as it produces a steady source of income for ongoing programs, and provides for long-term stability and future growth.  A gift to Touro University College of Medicine to establish a named endowment will help ensure TouroMed’s continued excellence and success for many years to come. It is a meaningful way to have a donor’s name, or that of a family member or friend, forever associated with the cause of caring, compassionate health care. 

Named endowments can be established for many purposes that can be tailored to suit your interests.  Some of the most popular are –

• to underwrite professorships and other faculty support that will help TouroMed attract and retain outstanding teachers, clinicians, and scientists

• to invest in future physicians through student support such as scholarships, fellowships, or research internships

• to grow and nurture a specific department or program

• to sustain the school’s general educational activities

Contributions & Grants

Through your gift to support the ongoing operations of TouroMed, you can have an immediate impact on helping the school, its faculty, and its students as they build a tradition of academic excellence, scholarship, community, ethics, and science through compassion and caring.  Donations of various sizes can be targeted for general purposes or for specific needs like student financial aid, library materials, research, or innovative faculty projects.

How to Give

There are many practical and effective ways to provide financial support to Touro University College of Medicine. What method you choose depends on your resources as well as your personal, family, and financial goals.

• Write a check. As a private non-profit institution, TouroMed depends on contributions that can be put to immediate use to sustain our ongoing programs. All gifts –- no matter how big or small – help us meet our goal of advancing health care through science, compassion, and caring.

• Donate by credit card. You can contribute through VISA, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express – by mail or online at our secure site.  It's fast, convenient, easy, and safe!

• Make a long-term pledge. To help TouroMed’s work, you can arrange to give at regular intervals - yearly, quarterly, or even monthly.

• Give financial securities or property. Many donors find it convenient – and  tax-wise –  to donate stocks or bonds that have appreciated in value, real estate, or other property.

• Have your gift matched by your employer. Many companies encourage their employees (and retirees) to support agencies like TouroMed by matching their contributions dollar-for-dollar. Gifts made by spouses may also be covered. Check with your Human Resources office to see if you qualify.

• Create an endowment. Some gifts can be designated as a permanent endowment that will help undergird TouroMed’s long-term financial stability.

• Consider a planned gift. One of the best ways to provide for TouroMed’s future is to arrange now for a gift that will come to TouroMed at a later time. By doing so, you can often afford to make a much larger contribution than you thought possible. There are several attractive options:

• A bequest in your will. Everyone should have a valid, up-to-date will, and you can use this basic planning tool to make a future donation to TouroMed.

• Life insurance. A policy that is no longer needed (say, because your children are now financially independent) can be donated to TouroMed to provide a future benefit for the poor.

• Life-income plans. Through a Charitable Gift Annuity, Charitable Remainder Trust or similar vehicle, you can receive current income, an immediate income tax deduction, estate tax benefits – and the satisfaction of knowing that your generosity will have an impact far into the future.
